  • Is biphobia a structural oppression?

If you had told me a few years ago that I was going to reach a point where I was branding myself as a Professional Bisexual™️, where I was actively pitching projects big and small about bisexuality, where I was writing daily essays about bi issues, I would not have believed you. At the time,…

  • Rules for bisexuals

So yesterday I waxed philosophic about being a lesbian; and more specifically why I don’t identify as bi lesbian despite being a woman with attractions to multiple genders who is exclusively interested in dating other women. You can read that piece if you haven’t already (that’s why I linked it!), but the takeaway is this: “lesbianism” is not…

  • But I am (not) a bi lesbian.

For a little over two years, ever since I decided to stop pursuing men romantically, there’s been a question that has popped into my head every so often: am I… a lesbian now? I mean, as a woman who is only interested in dating other women, the label would seem to fit. And lots of women…

  • All the rest is commentary. Now go and study.

When I became Bat Mitzvah twenty-mumblemumble years ago*, I was given a certificate by my synagogue to commemorate the occasion. At the bottom, there was a line that has been burned in my brain ever since: “All the rest is commentary. Now go and study.” If you are also Jewish, you’re likely familiar with this…

  • Who is a bisexual woman?

Last week, in the course of writing about Alan Cumming’s consistently memory-holed bisexuality*, I posited that American society breaks bisexual men down into two broad categories: the “real” bi men, who are functionally straight men who are happy to fuck all comers**, and the “fake” bi men, who are just gay men in denial. For bi…

  • Famous White Woman Comes Out As Bi On TikTok

(Allegedly) The other week, in an act of masochism professional due diligence, I signed myself up for Google alerts for “bisexual” and “bisexuality.” The results have been… pretty depressing, I’ll be real. First my inbox was flooded with headlines about “Daemon Targaryen, Bisexual King” on account of a deleted House of the Dragon scene that briefly — briefly! —…

A website for the modern bisexual.

In the fall of 2023, I noticed something strange. After a flurry of interest of interest in bisexuality — packages devoted to Bisexual Awareness Week, article after article about how biphobia was real and the bisexuals were, in fact, struggling — Bisexual Awareness Week had once again descended upon us and there was… nothing. No dedicated weeks on any of my favorite sites. No essays rehashing old and new bisexual gripes. Even the pitches I sent in about bisexuality generated little to no interest from editors.

It seemed that the media world was just… done with bisexuals.

And as a frustrated bisexual with a lot of things to say, I decided to do what every writer was doing: I started a newsletter about bisexuality. Welcome to The B+ Squad.

All essays I’ve written on bisexuality — including ones from the project’s Substack era — are on this site. If you’d like to support the project (and get bonuses for yourself, including early access to essays), you can check out my Patreon.
