A website for the modern bisexual.

  • I can accept polyamory, but I draw the line at…

For some reason — I do not know what that reason could be — Insider, the publication originally known as Business Insider, has been running a lot of personal essays about queerness. They only come across my desk when they mention bisexuality, but my Google alerts have had a swell of Insider personal essays lately. They’re usually… maybe bad…

  • What even is bisexuality, anyway?

If you ask someone what bisexuality is, chances are good that you’ll get some dictionary definition about attraction to multiple genders, or attraction to one’s own gender and others, or a little lecture about bi vs pan (regardless of whether or not you asked for one).  That’s not what this essay is about. I know…

  • That time I got a lesbian porn mag seized at the Canadian border.

If you happen to know people in the kink or sex work worlds who like to travel, it’s very possible that you’ll have heard a story about some weirdness that went down at the Canadian border. Canada, you see, has laws about consent that are basically drawn from 1970s feminist ideals. In Canada, a person…

  • The Natasha Lyonne paradox.

If you have any familiarity with queer lady cultural obsessions, you are likely aware that the actress Natasha Lyonne is, uh, one of them. And understandably! Not only was she the star of the amazing (and amazingly campy) lesbians-fall-in-love-at-conversion-camp rom com But I’m A Cheerleader, she also turned in a great performance as Nicky in Netflix’s…

  • In search of bisexual consciousness raising.

This is going to sound harsher than I intend it to, but: I don’t actually care about your hurt bisexual feelings. Do you cry yourself to sleep because you don’t feel queer enough? Do you worry that everyone thinks you’re a cheating faking? Do you fret that everyone is right and you are, in fact,…

  • And now, a joke.

There’s a joke my mom told me years (decades) ago, back when I was a kid: A woman is waiting for a bus when she sees a bearded man in a long black coat and hat approaching. “Jews like you,” she mutters under her breath. The man stops and looks at her. “Excuse me?” he…

A website for the modern bisexual.

In the fall of 2023, I noticed something strange. After a flurry of interest of interest in bisexuality — packages devoted to Bisexual Awareness Week, article after article about how biphobia was real and the bisexuals were, in fact, struggling — Bisexual Awareness Week had once again descended upon us and there was… nothing. No dedicated weeks on any of my favorite sites. No essays rehashing old and new bisexual gripes. Even the pitches I sent in about bisexuality generated little to no interest from editors.

It seemed that the media world was just… done with bisexuals.

And as a frustrated bisexual with a lot of things to say, I decided to do what every writer was doing: I started a newsletter about bisexuality. Welcome to The B+ Squad.

All essays I’ve written on bisexuality — including ones from the project’s Substack era — are on this site. If you’d like to support the project (and get bonuses for yourself, including early access to essays), you can check out my Patreon.
