  • Is she going to write about the Mario movie?

Okay firstly: I’m not really sure how the concept of “spoilers” works when one is talking about a children’s movie based on a long running video game that follows a relatively predictable (though still fun!) plot arc, but if you prefer to go into the Mario movie (sorry, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, I should put…

  • Everyone has an opinion.

One of the frustrating things about being bi is that, as soon as you make it known that you are attracted to more than one gender, everyone feels like they have the right to weigh in on the political symbolism of your attractions and why/how you are personally doing sexual attraction wrong. This is, I…

  • There is no inherent valor to queerness.

One of the undercurrents of anti-bi criticisms and jokes — especially the ones that target bi women — is this idea that we’re just straight folks adopting the bi label out of a desire to make ourselves seem more cool; that bi people with straight partners, in particular, are engaging in a bit of stolen…

  • Bisexual separatism?

So apparently there is a new dating swipe app, and this one is for the bisexuals. Which… well, before we talk about it, I invite you to watch this video introduction to the app. I feel like if I were that uncomfortable on camera I would not be the star of the video introduction to my app, but…

  • What even is “queer”?

In their continuing mission to run the exact same bisexual personal essay, albeit with minor variations, again and again and again, Insider now has an essay from — wait for it — a white bisexual cis mom who is married to a man and has a fraught relationship with calling herself queer. • What is going on with this Hinge ad campaign?

For the past few months I’ve been seeing these ads for the dating app Hinge in the subway; perhaps you have also been seeing them during your own public transportation trips, or on billboards when you drive to and from wherever it is you go. I don’t know how widespread the campaign is, or how…

A website for the modern bisexual.

In the fall of 2023, I noticed something strange. After a flurry of interest of interest in bisexuality — packages devoted to Bisexual Awareness Week, article after article about how biphobia was real and the bisexuals were, in fact, struggling — Bisexual Awareness Week had once again descended upon us and there was… nothing. No dedicated weeks on any of my favorite sites. No essays rehashing old and new bisexual gripes. Even the pitches I sent in about bisexuality generated little to no interest from editors.

It seemed that the media world was just… done with bisexuals.

And as a frustrated bisexual with a lot of things to say, I decided to do what every writer was doing: I started a newsletter about bisexuality. Welcome to The B+ Squad.

All essays I’ve written on bisexuality — including ones from the project’s Substack era — are on this site. If you’d like to support the project (and get bonuses for yourself, including early access to essays), you can check out my Patreon.
