A website for the modern bisexual.

  • What is always missing when we talk about the “straight passing”

One of the criticisms that is often lodged at bisexuals is the idea that we are “straight passing” — that we can, and often do, live the lives of straight people, regardless of our queerness. This is, of course, the basis of the obsession of bi girls with boyfriends; the idea that bisexuals are impostors…

  • You, too, can be a coveted demographic

This newsletter leads me some surprising places, friends. For instance: I did not expect to wind up reading a blog post written by and for people in the advertising industry, encouraging their peers to consider integrating bisexual visibility into their ads, the same way that other queer identities have been worked into ad campaigns in…

  • This is not the bi visibility we were looking for

There’s an article I was reading the other week — I think in the Daily Mail — that I have since lost track of; to be honest, I was only reading it because it popped up in my Google alert for “bisexual” and I wanted to see what, exactly, was bisexual about it in the first place….

  • But there is no aesthetic of bisexuality

I think, a couple of weeks ago, back when the horrors of the past few weeks were still fresh, I alluded to the fact that there was an open tab in my browser that was a Refinery29 piece about a bi woman who loves having long nails. It is still in my tabs (well, it was until I…

  • Why I do this

I started this newsletter on 9/23/2022 in a fit of pique, because I was angry that the many media publications who had spent 2021 making a big deal of Bi Awareness Week, with a whole host of packages exploring the bi experience and biphobia, had suddenly gone quiet, with bi issues dismissed as not compelling…

  • I was rooting for you

One of the most common complaints fielded against bi activists is that we have a tendency to hit harder against queer biphobia than biphobia from the straights.  “Why are you constantly beating up on us?” many monosexual queers will ask bisexuals who call out their biphobia. “Don’t you see that straight people are the real…

A website for the modern bisexual.

In the fall of 2023, I noticed something strange. After a flurry of interest of interest in bisexuality — packages devoted to Bisexual Awareness Week, article after article about how biphobia was real and the bisexuals were, in fact, struggling — Bisexual Awareness Week had once again descended upon us and there was… nothing. No dedicated weeks on any of my favorite sites. No essays rehashing old and new bisexual gripes. Even the pitches I sent in about bisexuality generated little to no interest from editors.

It seemed that the media world was just… done with bisexuals.

And as a frustrated bisexual with a lot of things to say, I decided to do what every writer was doing: I started a newsletter about bisexuality. Welcome to The B+ Squad.

All essays I’ve written on bisexuality — including ones from the project’s Substack era — are on this site. If you’d like to support the project (and get bonuses for yourself, including early access to essays), you can check out my Patreon.
